Recycled materials bring new life to something old
Concrete, TIMBER AND STEEL - RAW AND DELIGHTFUL
A single fronted cottage in suburbia that needed some loving. We took off the tired old lean to and opened up the back of the house creating a sun filled kitchen and dining space connecting to a tranquil bathing room.
With the garden as the primary focus and a material palette of reclaimed timber, glass and off-form concrete this home seamlessly transitions from inside to out. A carefully detailed building with many custom elements from joinery to door frames and bench work. The use of timber, concrete and copper help to reinforce the sense of the natural and raw.
An operable glass wall between kitchen and garden provides an atmosphere reaching from deep within the existing house out to the full extent of the garden.
