A soaring roof to shade the full height glass

When old classics get past their time …renovate

A tired old bungalow brought back to life with a rear extension that shines light on timber, steel and glass. Providing a new kitchen, living and wet areas to an existing 1950’s cottage while creating a direct visual and spatial connection to outdoor garden areas.

The warren like nature of the existing cottage was re-planned to allow maximum natural light to illuminate the interior of all new building work. Operable glazing reinforced the sense of openness and allowed freedom of movement between the interior and exterior timber deck. As a consequence of an extremely tight site, the bathroom extension, although minimal was enough to accommodate a spa bath with operable glazed openings onto intimate internal gardens.
